Preparations

On Saturday I leave New Orleans for Beppu, Oita, Japan. I will travel 7325 miles from home to spend 4.5 months studying at a University there. 

A lot of people have asked me if I am ready, if I know Japanese, if I have started packing. I have read quite a few guidebooks, and will be bringing them along with me. 

I have also been doing Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur audiobooks, and have used packets that the university sent me. 

I'm not so good at packing. My suitcase is a disaster for now, and I'll probably cut out half of what's pictured before I actually fold them into place. Packing for 4 months in a single suitcase is hard. 

Saturday is going to be stressful since I have 24 hours of travel time before I finally arrive in Japan. I have downloaded 2 movies and a book onto my iPad, and I plan on sleeping the majority of my flight over the Pacific. We'll see how it goes.
